#KeepParksOpen

A campaign against the closing of Yosemite during the Federal Government Shutdown

Though a major natural disaster couldn’t close Yosemite, a man-made disaster six weeks later did. During the 17-day government shutdown in October, we worked with the DNC Yosemite team to rally and show overwhelming opposition to the shutdown through the #KeepParksOpen campaign, adding to the pressure that ultimately brought Congress to the bargaining table. Using Tumblr as a home base and Twitter for outreach (guided by Fanatical), we gathered stories from would-be park visitors and employees of the National Park Service and concessionaires, all of whom were adversely affected by the shutdown.
